Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk warned he would not let pressure be applied on former Economy Minister Aivaras Abromavicius.
“I will nip in the bud all attempts to apply pressure on Abromavicius or commit any offenses against him. This minister is under the protection of my faction and the government,” Yatsenyuk said.
During a 1-hour QA session at the parliament, Arseniy Yatsenyuk also explained that Aivaras Abromavicius is under pressure because he wanted to change the way heads of state-owned companies are appointed.
“Everybody said it's impossible to change the way heads of state-owned companies are appointed. Yes, it’s not easy, there is political pressure,” said the Prime Minister.
According to Abromavicius, he resigned because he was being harassed by Igor Kononenko, First Deputy Head of the Pyotr Poroshenko Block.
It was reported earlier that Aivaras Abromavicius resigned as Minister for Economic Development and Trade on February 3.
