A Ukrainian writer Sergey Zhadan took part in the National marathon dedicated to the Anniversary of the annexation of Crimea.

The writer believes that in any case we cannot give up our land and our compatriots. According to him, we must remember that a large number of our countrymen who live in Russia-occupied Crimea are hostages of the circumstances.

The marathon united the eyewitnesses and participants of the events that took place in Crimea in 2014, as well as social activists, Ukrainian politicians, cultural figures and diplomats.

February 26, 2014, one of the largest rallies in support of the Ukraine’s unity was held in the city of Simferopol. On the one hand there were Crimean Tatar activists and pro-Ukrainian population, on the other - the supporters of "Russian unity". Three Crimean Tatars are being kept in jail in the city of Simferopol for participation in the rally, while three others being bailed out are awaiting the sentence at home.
