May 28, an informative and artistic action in support of the political prisoners of the Kremlin and, in particular, the Ukrainian filmmaker and writer Oleg Sentsov, who has been on a hunger strike in the Russian prison for 16 days, took place in the Rynok Square in Lviv.

The participants in the rally in support of Oleg Sentsov and the political prisoners of the Kremlin collected signatures under a letter to the country's leadership demanding the creation and functioning of a position as a Special Representative for Ukrainian political prisoners, providing effective assistance to families of political prisoners, informing the public about actions to release political prisoners, and bringing the issue of releasing all political prisoners to discussion during the 44th G-7 summit.

“Today we have not the second or third such action, very often they are spontaneous and this, I think, is very important. This is not a particular organization, it's all a matter of a conscious society, not necessarily a cultural or human rights organization, but just not indifferent people who are engaged in the process as they can," commented the co-organizer of the event Olga Mukha.

Within the framework of the event, the activists read out the names of all 68 confirmed political prisoners, who have been kept for months and years in various prisons of the Russian Federation and Crimea. For each political prisoner a "personal" chair was prepared, and the pavement under the chairs was painted with red lines.

The action ended with the appearance among the signed chairs for political prisoners of several more with the signatures: "The next one wherever and whenever."

“We must not forget how many our people today are rotting in cold casemates, and do not live a full life. We have to do a little more to ensure that these guys and girls have a chance for a good future," the participant of the action from Lviv Miroslava believes.

QHA reported that a mass action #SaveOlegSentsov in support of the Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov will take place on June 1 and 2 in many cities of Ukraine and the world.

Reference: Oleg Sentsov declared indefinite hunger strike on May 14, 2018, saying that he would stop it only if all Ukrainian political prisoners who are being held by the Russian Federation were released.

On May 26, the European Film Academy called to prevent the death of Oleg Sentsov.
