The mother of Ukrainian political prisoner, Crimean Volodymyr Balukh, said that she did not intend to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to pardon her son.

According to her, asking for a pardon means admission of guilt.

“I'm not going to ask Putin. Vova [Volodymyr Balukh, ed.] will take it wrong. He's against asking. To ask is to admit his guilt. And he cannot admit the guilt, because he is not guilty of anything," she said.

Earlier, Oleg Sentsov's mother appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to pardon the political prisoner.

Reportedly, at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council the Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna, Yevhen Filipenko, stated that the verdict to Volodymyr Balukh is a deliberate revenge for the hunger strike that the activist started several months ago.

It should be noted that Balukh was convicted because he placed a Ukrainian flag on his house, and was soon found guilty of absurd charges, allegedly for beating the head of the detention center in the Crimea, he was sentenced to 5-years in general prison.
