Crimean lawyer Emil Kurbedinov became a laureate of the Front Line Defenders – 2017 award for human rights defenders in risk, human rights activist Maria Tishenkova who broadcasted live from the award ceremony in the City Hall of Dublin reported on Facebook.

The annual Front Line Defenders Award was established in 2005 to commemorate the work of human rights defenders who make an outstanding contribution to the protection of human rights with non-violent methods of struggle, sometimes with risk to their own lives.

The award is intended to draw international attention to the work of human rights defenders in order to protect their lives and freedom from threatening danger.
Monetary premium of 15 thousand Euros allocated to the human rights defender and the organization he represents aims at supporting this important and useful work for humanity.

Before leaving for the award ceremony Emil Kurbedinov gave an interview to QHA, in which he noted that he regards the nomination for the Front Line Defenders award as recognition of the work of all lawyers and human rights defenders in the Crimea, and he commended the entire Crimean Tatar people.
