“A two-day OSCE meeting has opened in the Hofburg Palace in the capital of Austria today. As part of the event a reception will take place at hotel Shvedenhaus on behalf of the Germany’s OSCE Chairmanship and the Swedish delegation.

Members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people also take part in the work of the experts,” she informed.

The General Director of QHA news agency stressed that during the three sessions of the meeting there will be separately considered the issues of ensuring the safety of media professionals in conditions of armed conflict, which is especially important for Ukraine with ongoing undeclared war in the Donbas.

The participants will also discuss the issue of self-regulation and co-regulation of the work of the media as a tool of improving ethical standards and countering propaganda. This theme is very important and topical in terms of conducting the Russian information war against Ukraine.

Furthermore, the meeting will consider the role of the OSCE, governments and civil society in the protection of freedom of the media in times of crisis.

The Hofburg Palace is the official residence of the Austro-Hungarian Habsburg court. Now it is one of the official residences of the President of Austria. The building consists of a set of asymmetric interconnected buildings, as each new governor thought it his duty to expand the imperial apartments. Today, the Hofburg Palace hosts museums, art galleries, libraries, the headquarters of international organizations and government agencies.
