Lawyer Nikolai Polozov was transferred from the status of a defender to the status of a witness in the case of Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov, the lawyer said this in a comment to QirimInfo.

“I will probably be included in the list of witnesses. They should not have done it. I'll tell everything: How they abducted me, and what pressure they exerted. I'm waiting for a copy of the Appeal Court to be given from the Kyiv court, then, it will be possible to file a cassation and appeal to the European Court. Plus, I filed a complaint against the actions of the investigator, which has not been considered yet," he said.

According to the lawyer, the investigation of the "Umerov case" was completed and should be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office in the next few days.

Earlier, QHA reported that on the morning of January 25, lawyer Nikolai Polozov was illegally detained in Simferopol by FSB officers and taken to the office for interrogation as a witness in the case of Ilmi Umerov. The lawyer considers the action by the invaders’ special services as abduction.
Previously, in the preliminary investigation in the "Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Crimea", Nikolai Polozov gave explanations on the facts of his illegal forced drive to the FSB of the Russian Federation and illegal interrogation as a witness about the circumstances that he had learned after providing legal assistance to Ilmi Umerov.
