The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is taking steps to bring to justice the MPs elected to the State Duma of the Russian Federation as a result of illegal elections in the annexed Crimea, reported the department press service.

According to the information published on the official website of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, Balbec, Sheremet Poklonskaya will enter the State Duma as members of the "United Russia" party, while Baharev, Savchenko, Belik and Kozenko have been elected in single-seat constituencies, said a statement.

The prosecutor's office say such actions continue infringing the Ukraine’s sovereignty, as well as demonstrate the attempts to legitimize the annexation of the peninsula by including into Russian parliament the MPs illegally elected in Crimea.

The ARC Prosecutor's Office has put the corresponding information in the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations of criminal offenses under Part 1, Section 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason).

As QHA reported earlier, September 20 Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution saying Ukraine doesn’t recognize the legitimacy of the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the seventh convocation, their results and legal consequences, and accordingly, the composition, powers, acts and decisions taken by the State Duma. 264 deputies voted for the corresponding resolution.

Ukraine also appealed to the Security Council, the UN General Assembly, the parliaments of foreign states, international parliamentary assemblies and organizations urging not to recognize the legitimacy of the elections to the Russia’s State Duma of the seventh convocation.
