The Chief Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine has completed a pre-trial investigation against the Commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Alexander Vitko, reads a statement published on the website of Anatoly Matios, Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine.

As noted, Vitko is charged with crimes under Section 3 Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine); Section 4 Art. 27 and Section 1 Art. 111 (incitement to treason); Section 3 Art. 27, Art. 113 (organization of diversion); Section 2 Art. 28 and Sections 1, 2 Art. 437 (preparation, planning and waging aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"He is charged with organizing occupation of the peninsula and causing damage to significant military objects by subordinate to him military of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the period from February 20 to March 21, 2014. He also planned, prepared and took an active part in the conduct of a war of aggression against Ukraine, which led to violation of its territorial integrity and caused damages to all objects of state property worth more than UAH 1 trillion. Furthermore, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, the Commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet personally incited Ukrainian officers to commit treason,” says the report.

It is also reported that on June 30 the indictment against Vitko was sent to the court for consideration on the merits under special judicial proceedings.
