The case of journalist Mykola Semena is a "witch hunts", which is happening now in the occupied Crimea, NUJU Secretary Yelena Yurchenko noted, commenting on the court session, “Detector Media” writes.

“Today (the meeting was held on July 7 - Ed.) in the courtroom, an expert who had made basic conclusions on the case of Mykola Semena, admitted that she had been guided with FSB (Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation) hornbooks. This fact proves once again that this political case has the aim to intimidate independent journalists on the peninsula. The foundation of this case is based on the recommendations of Russian security forces and it is a bright illustration that journalism in the Crimea is under the pressure and repression”.

Reference, April 19, 2016, the ex-"Prosecutor" of the Crimea Natalia Poklonskaya filed a criminal case on charges of separatism against Crimean journalist Mykola Semena for his published articles.

On April 28 after interrogations and searches, Semena was considered a suspect. He denies the accusations of the occupation authorities.

On December 7, Mykola Semena was charged in the final version of six volumes.

On January 20, 2017, employees of the invaders-controlled law enforcement agencies in Simferopol handed him a bill of indictment on a fabricated “case on separatism”. The journalist faces up to five years of imprisonment over "calls for separatism" in the Russian Federation.

Earlier the witness on the Semena’s case pointed out the "Court" on the falsification of documents at the session.
