The mother of Ukrainian political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh, Natalia Balukh, was able to visit her son in a temporary detention facility in the occupied Crimea, according to the information on the website of the Crimean Human Rights Group of August 10.

Mother of the political prisoner said that Volodymyr Balukh barely eats, sometimes he has starch drink, eats oatmeal and dried bread.

“Nothing good. He is thin, looks terrible. Skeleton. Only skeleton left... Just bones and skin on bones. Looks like an old man. He will never tell me that his health is bad. Never. I know that he was ill, and his lower back ached, and his leg as well, and everything was bad, and he told me that it was fine. When we talked with him, a guard was standing next to him, and with him he would not say anything like that," she said.

Earlier, the mother of Volodymyr Balukh said that she did not intend to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to pardon her son. She noted that asking for a pardon means admission of guilt.

It should be noted that Balukh received his term because he placed a Ukrainian flag on his house, and was soon found guilty of absurd charges, allegedly for beating the head of the detention centre in the Crimea, having received a general 5-year prison term.
