In May 2019, an experiment on the introduction of resort fees will begin in the annexed Crimea, "Minister of Resorts and Tourism" of Crimea Vadim Volchenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Initially, seven regions expressed the desire to participate in the experiment. However, we received documents that Yevpatoria, Saki and the Black Sea region take a break next year. According to the order, it was possible to apply for participation in the experiment or exit till October 1,” Volchenko said.

Thus, only Yalta, Alushta, Sudak and Feodosia will participate in this program.

“The remaining regions are enough to practice the mechanisms and tools of administrative support for resort fees, which is intended to become a source of funds for improvement and transformation of resort regions,” the minister believes.

QHA reported that the Black Sea region of Crimea refused to pay a resort fee. Local "authorities" had stated that they doubted its economic expediency.

Previously, the "committee of the city council of Yevpatoria on the issues of resort, tourism, culture, youth policy and sports" decided to abandon the resort fee.

"Officials" feared that due to the tax the flow of tourists may decrease.
