The regional office of the "Russian Union of Travel Industry in Crimea and Sevastopol," proposes to reconsider the introduction of tourist tax and substitute it with the "exit tax" for tourists who buy travel packages to foreign resorts.

“Additional financial burden on the traveling tourists is not that significant, but for the state it is an additional source of funding for domestic tourism,” the Russian Union of Travel Industry stressed.

The chairman of the board of the "Regional RUT Office in Crimea and Sevastopol" Boris Zielinski appealed
to the head of the "Federal Agency for Tourism" Oleg Safonov with a corresponding proposal. Similar appeals were forwarded to the Russian Union of Travel Industry, and to the "Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea."

The Crimean branch of the Tourism industry Union reports that, according to preliminary results of the 2016 tourist season, the number of traveling within Russia increased significantly in comparison to previous periods. The increase arose due to the restrictions for Russian tourists to travel to the Egypt and Turkey resorts. In the case of recovery in tourist traffic in the above directions in 2017, the rate of domestic tourism may decrease.
