Today in the period from 9.30 am to 10.00 am, an earthquake shook the city of Mariupol. The local seismologists do no hurry to confirm it, but Mariupol residents clearly felt jolts and rumble out of the ground.

Having survived the past earthquake in the beginning of August, the locals now regard natural phenomena with caution. The Deputy Director of the Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences, Alexander Kindzer, commented on the event:

“Seismic activity has not been recorded in Mariupol. But it is quite possible that the tremors were felt due to the earthquake which occurred in Romania,” he said.

It should be noted that there was an earthquake of moderate strength (3.6 points) in Romania this morning. But it happened at the impressive depth - more than 130 kilometers, so the individual bumps can be felt throughout the territory of Ukraine, especially in its western and southern regions.

Increasing seismic activity began to bother Mariupol residents, because yesterday, shocks of moderate strength were reported in Sochi, and even today, they were felt in Mariupol.

“The latest earthquake seemed to be the last day of my life. Having felt jolts, I first run out and listen. If there are no blasts and fires, all is well. The most important thing for us, that it is not shelling,” says Michael, a resident of the village of Shirokino, who moved to Mariupol after the shillings.
