In the occupied Crimea in Simferopol, Muslims went on a hunger strike protesting against the demolition of their houses and mosques for the construction of a residential complex.

The reason for this step was the decision of the local construction company to begin the construction of a dwelling house on the Strelkovaya massif, therefore all buildings in the area will be demolished.

According to one of the participants in the rally Rinat Shaymardanov, the Crimean Tatars were forced to take such desperate measures to protect their homes and the mosque.

"We are announcing the beginning of a mass hunger strike against the arbitrariness of the Crimean authorities," Shaymardanov wrote on his Facebook page.

In the residential area of Strelkovoye on the outskirts of Simferopol, 42 Crimean Tatar families are residing, who settled here back in 2005, but have so far been unable to obtain documents for land.

Now the invaders intend to build a residential estate "Crimean Rose" for 9000 apartments on this place.

Meanwhile, the Russian authorities of the annexed peninsula strongly support hatred for the Ukrainians, the coordinator of the Crimean Human Rights Group Olga Skrypnik stated. She advises victims of such persecution to apply to the law enforcement bodies of Ukraine in order to register violations and forward them to international authorities.
