Eskender Bariev, a member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people stated that Ukraine needs to support the indigenous people of the Crimea and contribute to the legitimization of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
“Our task is to build that model of the Crimea, which would help to support the indigenous people of the Crimea, and show that the Crimea has a future as part of Ukraine. Ukraine must ratify the convention of the International Labor Organization (ILO) 169. Then it will be possible to use an additional information site and talk about the use of the land of the indigenous people”.
Bariev went on saying that it was necessary to work on the adoption of the law on indigenous peoples of Ukraine and promote the legitimization of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
“It is necessary to facilitate the participation of the members of the Mejlis in official trips, the opening of Mejlis missions in different countries of the world, the creation of inter-parliamentary cooperation. It is also important to initiate a project for the de-occupation of the Crimea, involving the Mejlis”.
Earlier, Yulia Kozdobina, Advisor to the Head of the Ministry of Information Policy noted that the department developed the Strategy for Information Reintegration of the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula. The document is intended for the formation of the information policy of Ukraine in relation to the Crimea. Kozdobina stressed that de-occupation would not harm those "who were not involved in the crimes”.
