Today, on August 18, at a meeting in Minsk, Alexander Lukashenko expressed concern over reliability of the southern border in his conversation with Andrey Ravkov, Minister of Defense, and Stanislav Zasem, Secretary –General of the Security Council, reports BELTA.

Having listened to the report on situation in army, President said to the heads of the defense agencies about the need to protect the citizens of the Republic of Belarus from "undesirable elements", who having crossed the border may get to Belarus. The aggravation of the conflict in eastern Ukraine can trigger the invasion of Russia-backed militants, said the President.

President has also been reported on the new types of weapons, the decision on the development of which was adopted at the last meeting of the Security Council.
