Today the court in the occupied city of Simferopol held a hearing over an appeal filed by Mustafa Degermendzhi’s lawyear against decision to extend his client’s detention period until October, 8. The hearing was held via a videoconference.
According to the Head of the Central Election Commission of the Kurultay of the Crimean Tatar People Zair Smedlyaev, the court has dismissed the complaint.
Following a brief hearing conducted via video conference and a short break, the court decided to dismiss the complaint, Zair Smedlyaev reported on Facebook.
Six persons are charged with involvement in mass riots during a rally held outside the Crimean Supreme Council on February 26, 2014.
Three of them, Ahtem Chiygoz, Mustafa Degermenzhi and Ali Asanov, are being held in Simferopol’s pre-trial detention center 1, while the other three, Eskender Kantemirov, Arsen Yunusov and Eskender Emirvaliyev, have been released on bail and are awaiting trial.
