Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rosenko called on the authorities of Egypt to close their seaports for cargo ships following from the Crimea.

The Ukrainian official made a corresponding statement during a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr, the press service of Rosenkov informed on Facebook.

“You know that Ukraine is now experiencing a difficult time associated with the aggression that Russia unleashed against our state. In this difficult struggle for independence and territorial integrity, support of the African continent and Egypt in particular is very important to us. Therefore, on behalf of the Ukrainian side, I appeal to the authorities of Egypt to restrict access and refrain from granting permits to enter Egyptian ports for vessels under the flags of third states that carry out illegal loading in the Crimea.”

Following the annexation of the Crimea, Ukraine closed the ports of the peninsula for international shipping. Shipowners and captains of the vessels that violate this ban are to be sanctioned.
